Marked IS : 4989-PART-I
Tested by DIFR, TAC Approved |
| COMPOSITION |
: |
Based
on hydroized protein with added foam stabilizers and metal salts. |
| APPLICATIONS |
: |
It
is used to produce low expansion foam and is reliable agent for
protection of hazards involving non-polar flammable liquids. |
|
|
Protein
foam produces a stable foam which flows over burning surfaces forming a
cohesive continuous air excluding, cooling blanket. Its water
content also provide the cooling of fuel and of surfaces such as hot
metal of tank shells.
|
|
|
It
displays good fire resistance and stability at low cost.
It is
perfectly adapted for all types of nozzles, inductors, foam chambers and
discharges.
|
|
|
The
method of application consists in projecting or spraying without
violence. The recommended rate of application is 2.5 to 8
LPM / M2 in accordance with the medium concerned and the difficulties
encountered.
|
PROPORTIONING
( Induction ) |
: |
To
obtain optimum foaming it is recommended that an induction of foam
compound is 3 to 4 % |
|
|
For
long throw equipment and for adhesive foam, higher 5-6% foam induction
is recommended. |
| EXPANSION |
: |
Depending
on type of equipment, water pressure and induction, the expansion rates
varies between 6 to 10. |
| COMPATIBILITY |
: |
Protein
foam is compatible in emergency use with other equivalent ISI marked
protein base foam compound, but they must not be mixed together in
storage containers.
|
| STORAGE |
: |
Protein
foam is to be stored in original sealed containers, or in tanks suitable
for storage of protein foam compounds with temp range - 50C
to + 500C
